Fly too low and Pipa Combate paints a dashed red line across the bottom of the sky with the words too low — climb. That band is the stall zone, and if you stay inside it for more than a couple of seconds you lose the kite, no rival required.
Why it exists
Down near the rooftops the air is broken and a fighting kite has nothing to work with. Mechanically it gives the sky a floor: without it you could park at the bottom of the screen, where lines are shortest and hardest to cross, and stall out every fight. The stall zone makes the bottom of the map genuinely dangerous, which pushes the whole fight upward into the open sky where it belongs.
How long you have
Roughly two and a half seconds inside the band before the kite is lost. The warning starts before that, as a red flash and a rising beep — treat the sound as the real deadline, not the visual. The counter also recovers: leave the band and your margin builds back up, so brief dips are survivable if you climb immediately.
The beep is not decoration. If you can hear it, you are already on the clock.
How kites end up there
- Chasing a falling kite too far down. Catch bonuses are good, but not worth a kite. If the debris is below the warning line, let it go.
- Fighting in the lower corners. The line limit and the stall band trap you against two walls at once.
- Not steering at all. A kite with no input sinks slowly on its own. Take your hand off the mouse to check something and you will find that out.
Climbing out
Climb and move toward the middle of the screen, not straight up. Straight up from a corner keeps you at maximum line extension, where your kite is slowest to respond. A diagonal back toward centre gets you out of the band and into usable air at the same time.
Use it on rivals
Rival kites do not stall, so you cannot bait them into the band. What you can do is take fights high, where you have room to weave and they have to come to you. Height is not an aesthetic preference in this game; it is a safety margin measured in seconds.
